Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSAs)
April 23 @ 8:00 am - May 1 @ 5:00 pm
March 18, 2024
To Whom It May Concern:
In a few weeks, your student will be participating in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSAs) at Mount Union Area Junior High School. These assessments are of significant importance, and both the staff and your student have been diligently preparing for them. Our dedicated classroom teachers have equipped your child with effective reading, mathematics, and science strategies to enable them to perform at either a “proficient” or “advanced” level on this state assessment.
Enclosed with this cover letter, you will find several documents providing crucial information about the exams and the procedures to follow during the testing period. I urge you to review these documents thoroughly with your student to ensure that both of you are fully informed about the protocols in place.
Furthermore, please take note of the exam schedule outlined below. Testing will commence promptly following homeroom and conclude at approximately noon each day of the testing period. It’s essential to emphasize that students who are absent on any exam day will be required to make up the missed assessments. Therefore, I kindly request that you refrain from scheduling medical appointments, early dismissals, or late arrivals during the designated testing times.
**Exam Schedule:**
– April 23rd and 24th: English – Language Arts
– April 30th and May 1st: Mathematics
– May 2nd: Science (8th grade only)
– Make-up Days: April 25th & May 6th
I encourage you to support your student by ensuring they get plenty of rest and consume a nutritious breakfast on exam days. Please motivate them to put forth their best effort during the assessments.
Thank you for your unwavering support of your student’s education. Should you have any inquiries or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Sincerely,
L. Hope Palm
